Global Humanitarian Charity partners with Calimere Point to revolutionise Data-Driven Impact Assessment worldwide

A prominent Global Humanitarian Charity, enlisted the expertise of Calimere Point to assist them in defining and calculating data-driven impact assessment measures encompassing their worldwide activities.

Redefining Philanthropy: The Crucial Role of Data Management in Measuring Global Impact

“In today's philanthropic landscape, donor engagement and decision-making is progressively emphasising the importance of charities identifying significant and efficient methods to source, manage, and communicate data concerning the impact of their work.

Given our client's extensive global presence, spanning thousands of projects across over 100 countries and involving a workforce of 30,000 individuals, quantifying the impact of their work posed a monumental challenge.

Industry: Charities

Challenges

Fragmented Data

The global nature of the charity had resulted in a highly fragmented data landscape across different geographies and platforms

Variable Data Sources

In addition to geographical and data infrastructure variables, the charity also operated a micro-financing platform which was distinct and separate.

No Metrics

The lack of comparability of metrics across region and project meant extracting and measuring comparative impact was a huge challenge.

Delivery Urgency

Given the importance placed by donors on impact quantification, it was important for our client to tackle this data challenge head-on.

Data Solution

Global Project Metrics and Finance Data Collaboration

We worked with their global teams from across operations, to understand and identify key repositories of project metrics across their global portfolio, and worked with their global finance teams to identify and extract key project financing metrics from each of their regional hubs.

Developing a Cost Per Impact

Combining this data with the finance information we were able to start to develop a set of cost per impact assessments at the project basis.

Impact Disparity Assessment

The data analytics solution included a detailed impact disparity assessment which highlighted any project anomalies which could be further investigated.

Aligning Data to Develop Detailed Impact Metrics

Our team developed a set of data alignment algorithms which allowed us to develop a set of consistent impact measures per project type (e.g. education, health and nutrition, water).

Improved Accuracy of Impact Assessments

Economic proxies were applied to “normalise” impact assessments across different regions / countries to enhance accuracy.

Benefits

With Calimere Point's advanced analytics, a global humanitarian organisation gained data-driven insights that lead to deeper insights.

Implementation of a Global Impact Assessment Platform

The use of complex data analytics techniques and technologies, delivered by Calimere Point, allowed our client to take massive strides towards the establishment of a global impact assessment platform.

Deeper Insight with Impact Metrics

Calimere Point’s ability to leverage our data expertise provided our client with their first set of comprehensive impact metrics at the project level, which they were never been able to see before.

Global Mapping of Projects

The sheer scale of the challenge, with such a global footprint of projects across continents had prevented our client from going forward. We enabled them to make significant headway, which they were previously unable to do.

Standardisation of Global Assessments

The infrastructure developed by this data project formed the backbone of future impact measurement and allowed our client to refine and standardise global assessments across their project portfolio.
